Know Your BBQ Temps: Thermapen

The most important thing when cooking meat is making sure you cook to the right temperature. Using a digital thermometer, like a Thermapen, and removing the guess work from cooking is a huge relief.

The majority of people are terrified of undercooked food, and rightly so, no one wants a medium rare chicken breast. Because of this we tend to over cook food and dry it out, especially with lean meats. Often you’ll cook a sausage and it will look uncooked simply because of the type/style/colour of the meat, but when you stab your Thermapen it shows that the sausage is actually 15-20 degrees past cooked.

Once you start to use a digital thermometer you will use it on all of your food, even things like frozen fish fingers and eggs to determine the foods done-ness. This has been game changing in both our outdoor and indoor kitchen cooking.

I can’t tell you how much it changed my food once i started using a Thermapen it was truely game changing. The accuracy that they have is incredible and so helpful to begin to learn how to make your meat juicy and safely cooked!
